LACLEDE CO. VOTING INFORMATION.......
In order to become our Laclede County Working Sheriff, Mike needs not only your support.... but certainly needs your vote! Below you will find various resources that can help you easily register and vote. If there are any questions, please contact us.
Laclede County, Missouri Voting Dates:
This year the general ("main") election will be on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 from 6 am until 7 pm. You may elect to vote through the mail before the election day (see the notes below).
As a reminder, in order to vote, you had to be registered by Wednesday, October 8th!
Registering to Vote (or to update your voter information):
The cut-off for registering to vote for the November Election was October 8th, 2008. If you have any questions regarding your registration, please call the Laclede County Clerk's Office at 417-532-5471.
Early Voting in-person:
Persons wishing to vote in-person before election day may do so at the Laclede County Courthouse in the County Clerk's Office. They are available until 4pm on Weekdays. You must be a registered voter in Laclede County and present proper identification (like a driver's license) in order to vote.
Tell the clerks that you don't think you'll be able to attend the polls on the actual election day and you wish to vote now, in person. Your vote will count just as anyone who votes on election day itself. Please remember Mike Hurney appreciates your vote for Sheriff !!!
Voting through the mail:
While many people will vote at their polling places on November 4th, others choose to vote through the mail. This process is called "absentee voting". Your mail-in vote will count like any other person's vote. Please remember that once you vote through the mail, you may not vote a second time - in person.
1. To proceed, be sure you are a registered voter in Laclede County (see the last section).
2. There are two primary reasons to vote through the mail. These options are listed below. Click on the appropriate link to download a ballot request form.
Absence - If you believe you will be away from the polling areas on the election day (November 4th), you can vote thru the mail. Click here for the "Absence" request form.
Disability/Handicap - If you feel you cannot make it to the polling places due to a disability or handicap, you can vote thru the mail. Click here for the "Disability/Handicap" request form.
3. You may submit these forms via mail or fax. They need to be submitted to the Laclede County Clerk; their information is pre-printed on the form. This form has to be received at their office before October 29th, 2008.
4. Once you get your ballot in the mail, vote by darkening the appropriate ovals, and place it in the provided envelope. Remember Mike Hurney appreciates your vote for Sheriff !!!
You must sign and date the return envelope, which is a large postage-paid envelope supplied by the clerk. Most generally, the envelope has to be signed in front of a notary if you submitted the "absence" option on your application. Handicap/Disabled voters should not need a notary. If you have trouble finding a notary, please contact us for help.
5. Mail your ballot back as soon as possible! Ballots may also be brought to the county clerks office at the courthouse (they even do take care of the "notary" section there too!)
